The Cleaning Smith has its roots back to October 2000 when the company's founder, Alida (Karacsonyi) Smith came to Michigan from Hungary with high hopes of achieving the American Dream. Taking any job she could get, she started off working for a large commercial flooring company. After learning all she could and saving every penny she earned, she struck out on her own the following year with $500 in her pocket and a $400 van.
