The Details

Midwest Ketafusion™ is the first and only ketamine infusion clinic in Iowa City, Iowa, serving patients from Iowa City, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids & Quad Cities, and the surrounding mid-west states of Illinois, Kansas & Missouri. The clinic provides evidence-based treatment plans for chronic pain and mental health conditions. Led by board certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) with a combined twenty years of experience, Midwest Ketafusion™ offers ketamine infusion therapy in a peaceful, quiet, office setting. While referrals are not required, we will communicate directly with Primary Care and Mental Health Providers to tailor the most effective treatment plans for each patient. Midwest Ketafusion™ utilizes the powerful effect of ketamine to treat conditions such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), severe anxiety, bipolar disorder, and migraines. The clinic also treats complex chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) or reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), and many other painful neuropathies. As members of the American Society of Ketamine Physicians (ASKP), we are an evidenced-based clinic which utilizes current scientific research and established infusion protocols. Prior to each infusion, patients are assessed using BDI-II, BAI, PCL-C and/or NPS. This information will be provided to referring clinicians upon request. Our mood disorder treatments will typically include 6 forty minute infusions completed over a two week period. With our expertise, we are able to provide our patients a light to moderate sedation with minimal side effects. For migraines and chronic pain, such as CRPS and fibromyalgia, most patients receive the best response from longer and higher dosed 4 hour infusions. The majority of patients respond to a series of 5 to 10 four hour infusions administered daily or every other day. Each patient's response to ketamine infusion therapy is varied and is difficult to predict. We have the ability and know-how to safely and effectively provide the best results possible. At Midwest Ketafusion™, all patients will have a CRNA, certified in ACLS and PALS, monitoring vital signs, comfort level, and overall experience. Standard monitors are used to observe blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and respirations. Though these are “sub-anesthetic" doses, a provider with a comprehensive knowledge in ketamine administration will be present throughout. All of our CRNAs have an extensive history in treating chronic pain, are trained in advanced airway management, and have years of experience with facilitating all facets of ketamine infusions. Our clinic is equipped with standards of safety including highly trained personnel, emergency medications, airway and resuscitation equipment, AED, and applicable policies and procedures. We go above and beyond to provide the safest clinical environment possible. The team at Midwest Ketafusion™ prides itself on offering compassionate care, taking the time to listen to each patient and striving to fully understand their background and full health history. For each patient under their care, the providers at Midwest Ketafusion™ offer individuals comprehensive treatment plans to treat pain and mental health while keeping each patient safe, happy, and working toward a healthier life.
