Welcome to HealthSouth Reading Rehabilitation Hospital. Located on 35 acres of gently rolling hills, in Berks County, south of Reading and just five miles from the turnpike, HealthSouth is a 60-bed acute rehabilitation hospital that offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services designed to return patients to leading active and independent lives. Click here for a map and contact information on our location. Historical Note The original hospital was located in the Stone Manor, which was once the mansion-home of Hosiery Magnate Isaac Eberly. In 1960, Isaac’s widow Katherine sold the mansion and grounds to the Seventh-day Adventists, an organization which converted the mansion house into a 57-bed acute rehabilitation hospital. In December of 1960, the first patient was admitted to the Reading Rehabilitation Hospital. For over 50 years, the Reading Rehabilitation Hospital has been serving patients from Berks, Chester, Montgomery, Lehigh, Lancaster counties and beyond. In 1974, a new, four-story hospital was built on the hillside above the mansion. In 1998 HealthSouth acquired Reading Rehabilitation Hospital.
